Beauty Look | Sexy Hot Pink/Purple Lips!

Lipsticks are such a hot makeup product right now!! We are so lucky that Makeup companies have created versatile lip products that allow us to have access to so many unique colours, tones and finishes. Whether you want bold lips or a soft finish or just want something daring, you can have it all!

Back in the 90's, I had to constantly mix colours or layer colours together to create the vividness or shade I wanted. Old habits die hard, but you can still create unique tones and finishes when you layer a lighter lip gloss with a different shade of lips. Add a liner and you can really transform the lips all together.

So here are the three products I used to create this STUNNING lip look:

1. Beautique Defining Lip Pencil in WINE
2. Cover Girl Lip Perfection Lipstick in DIVINE #330
3. MAC Lipglass in PERKY

The steps to achieve this look were pretty simple. I lined and filled the lips with the liner, layered on the lipstick on top and finished with the gloss on the bottom lip, focusing the application on the centre of the bottom of the lips. Such a hot shade for Spring/Summer 2015!

I had so much fun creating this look! I used the ItsJudyTime palette which I must say I was in my happy place when I first bought this palette. I love the options and versatility I have with this to truly create a million looks! I love Navy tones on brown eyes and wanted to create a sexy navy look. Purple is one of my favourite colours to wear. It looks great on all skin tones and works beautifully for brown eyes! I put together a purple smokey eye look using the Giorgio Armani Quad #12. A mini palette of sorts that still allows you to create a beautiful makeup look.

The reason I use Fluid Sheer as a base for my shadow is it makes for a great primer. Fluid Sheer is a liquid based highlighting product that can is used for, of course, highlighting, but it works beautifully as an Eye shadow primer. The "sticky" texture allows the powder shadow to adhere which results in a longer wear as well as NO creasing! I have worn this look for 12 hours now and it has NOT creased!

I also like to mix Fluid Sheer with my foundation for a glowing finish to the skin!

Happy National Lipstick Day!

In honour of #NationalLipstickDay, I pulled together a collection of images of my favourite lipsticks! From brights, bolds to neutrals, you can pretty much wear any colour that you are in the mood for.  It is interesting and almost shocking to think that at one point in history, wearing Lipstick was not approved of, considered scandalous and banned. Thankfully, this ideology towards lipstick has changed! Lipstick is probably one of the most popular makeup items purchased, the first of many makeup items when trying makeup for the first time and the quickest way to change or update your look!

Purple Rain | My Love affair with Purple (2014 Pantone Colour of the Year)

How can you not love looking at this shade and be obsessed with it? I focused on Lip products for this post, but my obsession doesn't end with just lips. I also love purple for the eyes, a soft sweep of purple on the lids looks amazing for Brown eyes {Click for post here}. Also, using a purple liner instead of a black one, makes a great impact as well {Click for post here}.

I look back and wonder if perhaps my obsession started when Pantone declared this hue as the colour of the year for 2014, specifically Orchid. But If I dig deeper, my purple obsession might have started way earlier. Perhaps circa 1984, a time for fun fashion, a time where musicians and acting in movies were one in the same. Is it possible that it may have been influenced by the one...the only....

The Legendary Prince in the film "Purple Rain"

Product Love | MAYBELLINE Color Elixir™ By Color Sensational®

The MAYBELLINE Color Elixir™ By ColorSensational® lip glosses are great because they pack a punch when it comes to colour. They also glide on the lips and feel very comfortable on. The Angora Lip Brush definitely makes a difference on delivering a smooth application. The 2 shades that really jumped out at me were in a deep warm plum and of course purple, which seems to be my current love affair!

The lip glosses are amazingly shiny and light reflecting however, with most glosses, application is key because if you apply too much it’s not a cute look. The best way to apply it, as per the Maybelline website is to work on the top lip first, starting at the centre to the outer edges of the lip. Then finish off with gliding across the entire bottom lip.

These glosses are great paired with a bit of mascara and keeping the focus on the lips. The other plus is that glosses are amazing to use in the Summertime. They have staying power whether you take a dip in the pool or just enjoying being outside in the Sun!
